Many traditions have celebrations of light, including today’s Hindu Diwali celebration of the victory of light over darkness. While I don’t know all the details of this beautiful celebration, its spirit touches me deeply.

My Life Styling method is all about reconnecting with your magnificence—your light, your true essence, your inner Sage—so that you can attain your highest goals with joyful creativity, clear-headed calm and peace of mind.

Our true essence of love, empathy, creativity and curiosity gets drowned out by shoulds, doubt, shame, judgment, fear, numbness, anxiety, and so on. While we might get some results from this place, it ultimately keeps us from performing at our best with lasting happiness and peace in our hearts.

At one time, it was an evolutionary advantage that our brain was wired to spot dangerous or “negative” people, places and things three times more than safe or positive ones. Even though we no longer need that level of heightened awareness to survive, it’s still at work, and it takes regular practice to get out of those well-worn tracks.

The “negative” voices are loud. Much louder than the quiet voice of wisdom and knowing inside you. The light inside you speaks in whispers, which is why getting still is a such a powerful and valuable practice. Over time, quieting the mind with PQ reps, meditation, energy work, movement or art rewires your brain to shift faster, go deeper and stay longer in the wisdom center of your brain. This is the area of peace and calm, positive emotions, creativity and clarity—your light.

When we operate from our light, effort turns into ease, creative ideas flow freely, relationships run more smoothly, we have more energy, bounce back from “failures” more quickly, empathize with others, and discern when there may be true danger and act accordingly from a place of calm.
